If your home is between nearly 1,800 square feet, you need a 3-ton air conditioner. If you're close to 2100 square feet, you'll need a 3.5 ton air conditioner. For an area approaching 2,400 square feet, a 4-ton air conditioner will suffice.
Now you can see many people giving different answers. This calculation refers to the climate zone in which you live. Depending on the climate of the area, you will need different sized air conditioners.
For example, in warmer climates, the requirement would be 30 BTUs per square foot. If the temperature is moderate, the requirement is 25 BTUs per square foot.
